It's simpler. Cypherpunks turned the Satoshi Nakamoto pseudonym into a false idol. They romanticized the Jungian shadow of the collective unconscious and recast their own darkside as virtue, reinforced through cultural groupthink. Craig Wright claiming to be Satoshi threatens the group identity built around the Satoshi egregore, and so he becomes the individual scapegoat that is sacrificed to it instead. That is why the majority cannot accept him as the creator of Bitcoin and there are so few who do. A similar pattern of idol worship shows up with Ross Ulbricht. Crypto culture treats Ross as a hero. But he has said Silk Road “turned out to be a very naive and costly idea” that he deeply regrets, that it became “a convenient way for people to satisfy their drug addictions,” and that he has to live with having “played a role in people losing their freedom to addiction.” The hero worship continues anyway. The spell is cultural groupthink and moral inversion: bad is called good, and good is called bad. The Bitcoin culture itself is collectively displaced into a reprobate mind and projects its shadow onto Craig as a scapegoat, instead of reflecting on their own darkness.
